FedEx - Team Lead ; International Customs Clearance
Jem Sirrine is the Team Lead for the PGA/ECR team in International Customs Clearance at FedEx Logistics, based in Memphis, Tennessee. Jem began his career as an athletic training intern for the Cleveland Indians in Winter Haven, Florida, after earning his Bachelor’s in athletic training from Appalachian State University. His internship involved assisting with the rehabilitation and treatment of injuries for both minor and major league players. This experience laid the foundation for his deep knowledge and expertise in sports medicine.
Following his internship, Jem advanced his education and career as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. There, he earned his Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology. During this time, he continued to refine his skills, working with athletes and learning more about the intricacies of sports injury prevention and recovery.
2000 Jem became an assistant athletic trainer at Winter Park High School. He worked alongside the head athletic trainer, covering all varsity and junior varsity sports. His responsibilities included performing pre-practice treatments, supervising athletic training interns, and conducting rehabilitation services for athletes outside school hours. He also taught Personal Health and Fitness, Weight Training, and Team Sports courses.
Jem’s career led him to Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida, where he was appointed Head Athletic Trainer. In this role, he covered 16 varsity sports and coordinated pre-participation physicals for all athletes. He managed the athletic training department’s budget, ordered supplies, purchased capital equipment, and negotiated with vendors. He worked with orthopedic surgeons to expand the Sports Medicine team. He also served as an adjunct faculty member, teaching courses such as Athletic Training, First Aid and CPR, and Therapeutic Modalities.
After Warner University, Jem joined Bond Clinic in Winter Haven, Florida, as an Athletic Trainer. He worked on developing the clinic's orthopedic department by fostering relationships within the community and building new partnerships with local schools. His duties included providing athletic training services, performing patient intake and evaluations, conducting rehabilitation, and managing insurance billing for the clinic’s Physical Therapy Department.
At Southeastern University (SEU) in Lakeland, Florida, Jem was appointed Head Athletic Trainer, a role in which he oversaw the growth of the Athletic Training Department. Under his leadership, the department expanded to include eight certified athletic trainers. He was responsible for managing the department's budget, recruiting medical professionals, and ensuring the health and safety of all student-athletes. He also negotiated with insurance companies to secure coverage and collaborated with architects to design athletic training facilities. He taught courses on Athletic Training and First Aid/CPR as part of his adjunct faculty role.

Jem has also led training sessions for other teams within the company, sharing his expertise on regulatory compliance. His ability to collaborate with different departments at FedEx, including those at the Memphis hub, has helped streamline processes and minimize delays. He also interacts directly with customers to resolve issues related to delayed shipments and those missing proper documentation.
In addition to his work with high-value shipments, Jem supervises Customer Service Agents, providing guidance and ensuring they maintain a high standard of service. Jem was the oldest of three siblings in Winter Haven, Florida, with two younger twin sisters. His love for sports from an early age led him to pursue a career in athletic training. As a child, he was interested in collecting vinyl records and baseball hats, hobbies that provided him with a creative outlet and connection to his interests.
Jem has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1999. They have a daughter who married last year. He and his wife are avid travelers, having visited 48 of the 50 U.S. states. Faith is central to their lives, and they are devout Christians. They regularly contribute to their church and have supported various missionaries.
Jem’s passion for sports remains a significant part of his life. He has completed six half marathons and one full marathon as a distance runner. In recent years, he has also taken up pickleball, which he enjoys as part of his weekly fitness routine.
